A Prayer

Lord,
I am just a vessel. Fill me with your light. Illuminate me with Your presence.
May this not be for my own pleasure. May it be for You. After all I am just a vessel. I can do nothing on my own. Fill me with You, so that You may receive the glory.
            Your Child,

Poems For You

Here are some poems that have been sitting on my computer for years. But they are coming into the light. Over the next month I'll be sharing them with you. My prayer is that these free verse poems will be a blessing to you.

The Canvas

Here I stand, a blank canvas before God.
What was one a tattered mess,
He has sewn together.
I stand here a new canvas waiting to be painted on.
Slowly He takes up the brush.
Then a wonder unfolds.
Stroke after stroke He paints.
What was once in chaos comes alive with color.
What was once pain bursts forth with beauty.
Here I stand a painting not yet finished,
But under the care of the master Painter.

Waiting and Praying

You’ve prayed. You asked God to use your talents in a specific area. Yet opportunities seem closed to you. You want to minter to elderly people, but there isn’t a ministry for them in your area. You want to go out on the mission field, but the money isn’t coming in. Or you want to help single mothers, but feel inadequate.
We’ve all had times when things don’t go the way we wanted them to. Times of great longing and waiting.
If you are in one of these times, dear sister, let me encourage you with this word. Don’t worry. God knows your heart. He is in you to will and to work. He is working out His greater plan. It may be hard to know what He is doing, but He is working.
Rest, let God write the story. Relax, knowing that God will do the very best thing. And while you are doing this, do what you know to do for the day. Even if it’s just taking care of kids or doing housework, do what you have been called to do for that day. Then let God take care of the rest.

A Prayer

Hebrews 13:20-21 (NIV) May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

A Prayer For You

May God watch over you and be with you. As you work may God give strength and peace. As you work may God give you joy.
Amen.

A Prayer

Dear God,
Hold these precious children in Your arms.
You alone can heal what is broken.
You alone can dry the tears that have been shed.
Give them what they need to make it through each day.
Be a light to their path,
And a shelter in the midst of the storm.
Love,
Your Child
